Today, I had an interview with my district manager to discuss my role within the organization as a general manager a little more to see if it is something that I want to do. Our organization has a daily structure for general managers to follow every day to make sure we keep our priorities straight throughout the day. Our day starts at 10am, during this time we get the club “tour ready”. This consists of cleaning the bathroom and changing the trash in all of the trash cans. I do this from 10am-10:30am. Then at 10:30 I sit down and look at my schedule so I can send confirmation texts for any appointments I have for the day. I also take this time to go through and check any unread emails and see what requires my immediate response. Then at 11, we get on zoom everyday. On Mondays, we get on zoom as a company, then Tuesday-Thursday we get on zoom as a district, and on Fridays we don’t get on zoom at all because our district managers are in district managers meetings. We are on zoom until about 11:15 or 11:30. Then from 11:30 until 1pm I work on prospect outreach. Then, I take my lunch from 1 to 2. After lunch, I do some extra cleaning in the club from 2-3pm. I dust the cardio equipment, vacuum the turf area, and sweep and mop all the floors in the club. Then from 3-4pm I go out in the community and market the club. I do something different everyday. Today, I went to 5 different chamber of commerce businesses and offered 14 day trial passes to the employees of those businesses. From 4pm-4:30pm I spend time dealing with any customer service issues. Whether there is a member wants to cancel or someone who is having issues with their key fob. Then, from 4:30 until 6:00pm I finish up my prospecting outreach. From 6-6:30 I do delinquency outreach, and then from 6:30 until 7 I do my end of day form to submit going over everything I did that day. This is the specific timing they want us to follow to help with priorities, but as long as we are getting our work done, they don’t stress too much on whether that structure is followed or not.
